Hotel/Residence Cala di Falco (4*), Cannigione, Gulf Arzachena, Sardinia
The excellent 4* Hotel Cala di Falco is situated 300m from the lively centre of Cannigione and is only separated from the lovely sandy beach by the width of a small road. It is in a good location just 15 minutes drive from Porto Cervo and the Costa Smeralda and half an hour from Olbia.
Cannigione has a little port, several good restaurants and bars and many shops are open all year round. The many activities available at the Hotel, along with the proximity of the wonderful beach, where you can hire sun beds and parasols, make this hotel a popular choice for couples and families.
There are two pools, one with sun-beds and large cane parasols and one just with sun-beds. The La Poiana restaurant, specialising in international cuisine, has a lovely terrace as well as a wood oven for pizzas whilst the other restaurant, La Terrazza, has panoramic views across the gulf of Arzachena and serves traditional island recipes. There is also a piano bar with terrace and a bar/gazebo by the pool.
The hotel boasts an amphitheatre with occasional live entertainment and there is a playground for children as well as a mini-club for 4-14 year olds open from June 11th until September 9th and baby-dance in the evenings. Along with the gym, the other sports facilities include a floodlit tennis court, beach volleyball, French bowling and canoeing all with instructors. There is table football and a games room. Beach water sports facilities are available in season and there is a diving centre, a windsurfing school and a horse riding centre nearby. Special fishing excursions can also be arranged.
Everyday it is possible to swim in a different magical spot thanks to the Delphina Express Water taxi, which organises excursions to the wonderful beaches of the Costa Smeralda and to the enchanting islets of the La Maddalena Archipelago. Full-day cruises aboard the old fashioned Norwegian sailing ship La Pulcinella (with lunch) are also available visiting the French islets off the coast of Corsica, with a memorable stop for a dip on the return journey by the shores of the famous Budelli Island.
The hotel has 30 simple one-bedroom self-catering apartments that sleep 2-4, furnished in typical Mediterranean style. They comprise a lounge with two sofa beds and a kitchen corner with fridge and hob, a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a terrace with table and chairs. There is air conditioning in the living room as well as a safe, Satellite TV, and a phone. Linen and towels are changed weekly.
There are 127 hotel rooms, either ground or first floor, decorated in traditional Mediterranean style with terrace/balcony. A sea view room or suite is guaranteed by paying a supplement. The rooms have Satellite TV, air conditioning, safe and phone.
- Standard rooms have a double/twin beds and space to accommodate an infant under two in a cot.
- Junior suites can accommodate 2-3 people and consist of a double/twin bedroom and a lounge with sofa bed and air conditioning.
- Royal junior suites are like the junior suites but with superior dcor and have been newly refurbished to a high standard.
- Senior suites have an extra twin bedroom and can sleep 3-6 people.
- Royal senior suites are like the royal junior suite but have an extra twin bedroom and can sleep 3-6 people.
