Hotel Nuraghe Arvu, South of Olbia, Sardinia
The Hotel Nuraghe Arvu hotel is a prestigious 4 star superior hotel which is positioned in one of Sardinia’s most suggestive corners.
Its natural beauty, its elegant architectural style and furnishings, its functional services, its high quality cuisine and above all its Sardinian style and ancient cordial hospitality make this resort a true charmer.
The Nuraghe Arvu Hotel is situated just a few hundred metres from the ancient Nuragic settlement named Nuraghe Arvu meaning white nuraghe. The ancient village once included 40 huts which enjoyed a spectacular view of the sea and was positioned strategically in the centre of the Gulf of Orosei, the last refuge of the monk seal.
The location of the hotel is therefore particularly an interesting one: Behind it one finds the beautiful mountain of Monte Bardia, covered in thick holm-oak forests and just ahead, at a distance of about 500 metres, one finds the most beautiful seas in the Mediterranean.
The central body of the structure holds a vast hall, a TV room, a bar and large open spaces fitted for expositions.
Suites and Rooms
The spacious rooms have been furnished in a Sardinian-style architecture and almost all boast a pleasant view of the sea. They each include the following: An independent entrance, a private terrace, air-conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, safe, phone and Internet.
Particular attention has also been paid to people with physical impairments. In fact, the hotel reserves rooms for persons with special needs as well as the opportunity to access all of the hotel’s grounds.
Along with the rooms, our hotel has added three magnificent suites. The rooms’ interior design, the use of precious materials used in the construction of its structure, and the tedious care for privacy, comfort and small details, contribute in making this hotel of a very high quality and of good taste.
Restaurant
The restaurant is not to be overlooked. In fact, the restaurant has a large air-conditioned dining room a vast panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, the pool and the mountains. The Chef meticulously prepares the best local specialties as well as grilled specialties cooked in the kitchen’s interior wood burning oven or on the big outdoor barbecue. Our sommelier is always ready to assist you with a varied menu selection of finer local and national wines.
The wine cellar is cosy and very well kept and it stores all of the restaurant’s wines. It also has several spaces which allow the guests to savour local food specialties accompanied by a good glass of wine.
Pool
A unique architectural project has allowed the creation of a spectacular pool. Its sinuous shape is decorated by Sardinian granite and secular olive tree plants which provide natural shade in the surrounding areas.
The large 400 sqm swimming-pool, built for children and adults, is equipped with a lumbar and plantar hydro massage. It is accessible from all the rooms surrounding it.
Territory and Surroundings
The Nuraghe Arvu Hotel is located in Cala Gonone, a hamlet of Dorgali, in the province of Nuoro.
It once housed three Nuragic villages (Nuraghe Arvu, Nuraghe Mannu, and Nuragheddu) dating back to the Neolithic age. This quaint tourist village, a real pearl, is set on the eastern coast of Sardinia and is an open window onto the Gennargentu Park. Here, the dominant mountains of the Barbagia region span up to the sea creating spectacular views of imposing cliffs edged by age-old woods. Cala Gonone’s seas and the park have always been the home of the mouflon and the eagle. The natural park, together with the marine wildlife reserve in the Gulf of Orosei, play a major role in helping raise awareness of this natural heritage as well as providing a natural tourist resource which can be shared by all.
The soon to be completed aquarium should also contribute in the protection of species close to extinction such as the Monk seal.
The natural and scenic coastal resources offered to the Nuraghe Arvu Hotel seem endless. However, one must not forget that there exist rich inland areas such as Monti Bardia e Tului. They are true treasures ready to be discovered. However, most particular is the country scenery in Dorgali. It is here that vines and olives are cultivated. In addition, we may view the grand spectacle of the mountains of the Supramonte, or the Frumeneddu river, the Cedrino lake, the Ispinigoli Caves, the Nuragical village of Serra Orrios, the Dolmen, the Tomb of the Giants, the Domus de Janas, the Nuragical village of Tiscali and the Gorrupu Gorge. One must not forget to mention the kindness, irony and hard work of the local people.
This is the hidden Sardinia. Here hospitality blends with the ancient art of handicrafts such as filigree jewellery, pottery, carpets and tapestries and sweets. You are sure to find “the true Sardinia experience”.
Services
A spacious solarium with both sea and mountain views is available to those guests seeking some relax time. Children will enjoy the fully equipped outdoor park and parents may request (Upon reservation only) a babysitting service.
At night, our guests will be entertained by our piano bar, and local traditional Sardinian songs and dances. Other services include shuttle buses to and from Sardinia’s major airports, beach shuttle service, jeep rental for interesting trips in archaeological and tourist areas, bike rent, scuba diving and sport fishing excursions, mini-cruise excursions, free-climbing, horseback riding, trekking, tennis and canoeing.
