Villa il Rifugio, near Alghero, SardiniaThis high standard, spacious villa is located in a private residential park by a private sandy beach and small rocky bays, immersed in a maze of palms, lentisks and other Mediterranean plants.

It is situated some 15 km from Algheros historical town and the drive to the villa from Alghero is one of the most picturesque roads of the island with dramatic sea views. The surrounding areas are protected by strong conservation laws especially the headland of Capocaccia where you can descend the 640 steps to the renowned Neptunes Grottos (Le Grotte di Nettuno).

Villa il Rifugio, near Alghero, SardiniaThe villa is surrounded by a private garden filled with fragrant herbs such as rosemary, sage and thyme and boasting a large palm tree and a lemon tree. The garden with barbecue area leads out onto safe grounds and a paved path that leads down the sea, ideal for long walks.

Alongside the lovely sandy Capo Caccia beach is a huge swimming pool with lifeguard and a separate large pool for children. There is a supermarket and two restaurants with special prices for the villas guests including one by the pool.

A great aspect of the villa is the roof terrace the only no-go area for young children in this otherwise very child-friendly villa – with sun-beds and outdoor shower, which you access by a spiral staircase. It enjoys views of the sea, the Capo Caccia headland and two old Saracen towers. The large open plan living room is adorned with beautiful paintings and blue sofas with colourful cushions. It is a very well decorated room featuring a beautifully tiled floor, a glass coffee table, several items of handcrafted furniture and the jewel in the crown the large round table especially made out of lava from Mount Etna and imported from Sicily. There is a lovely open fireplace and a TV and video.

This room leads out onto a spacious shaded terrace with arches, which is well equipped for outdoor living. This is a peaceful area to relax in with a great feeling of quiet and privacy. The kitchen is well equipped with oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and even a press to squeeze fresh oranges and lemons.

The bedrooms have also been decorated with attention to detail. There is a single/double bedroom, which opens out onto the terrace, and shares a bathroom in common with the other twin bedroom in this side of the house. At the other side of the house are a double bedroom, a separate bathroom with shower and the well-lit master bedroom with en-suite shower room. There is also a laundry cupboard with a washing machine.
