The Mansion in the Country, near Palau, Sardinia
Situated in the most northern corner of Sardinia, near wonderful beaches and near Palau. It is built within its own private estate.
“The Mansion in the Country” is a perfect retreat for a family with children or a group of friends looking for a peaceful holiday, away from the beaten track.
“The Mansion in The Country” is an exquisite example of a old but noble house perfectly refurbished to the highest of standards. What remains from the old country home of a local family, renowned for exporting everywhere in the world the hardest granite, are really only the strong thick walls of this large house. Every other feature has been newly made – retaining though the style and the charm of a characteristic Sardinian farm house. Apart from granite walls the terracotta flooring have also been kept but taken out of the living room and refitted on the ample front terrace and bordered with large square granite stones cut to fit locally.
Apart from the perfect restoration, the house is mostly appealing due to the ample, unspoilt surrounding landscapes. It is totally secluded surrounded by a large private estate scattered with mature olive trees and rolling granite rocks scattered with fragrant macchia. The beaches – some of amazing purity and beauty are not far away, around 10 min drive. This kind of location exudes the real charm of the Island.
The house is situated near Palau, on Sardinia's North Coast. It boasts sober luxury with large rooms, wonderful modern kitchen and amazing bathrooms with modern stylish fittings and tailor made furniture of high quality.
Living room
A large open plan room characterised by the beautifully crafted wooden ceiling and elegant granite flooring. The room has a cosy, large corner fire place, surrounded by beige sofas (one of which can become a double sofa bed).
A large chestnut table furnishes the dining corner together with an antique cupboard.
In the living room there are stereo, DVD player and plasma TV. The rooms is cool in the summer but warm in the winter has it has central heating, like the rest of this villa.
Kitchen
What a marvellous kitchen, worth a top chef, really! A Miele oven and cooker to start with. Huge fridge freezer, spacious superficies to prepare the food. It leads onto a partially shaded back terrace featuring comfortable high class furniture with large table, offering a shady corner with a marvellous view over the peaceful country side and the most idyllic landscape. A wonderful place also for children to run around safely.
Sleeping quarters
The villa has 2 bedrooms of which one with a fantastic bathroom with bath tub featuring elegant modern fittings and Furniture. This part of the house has nice wooden floorings.
Outside
The view from the front terrace is lovely – the most authentic wild Sardinia.
Here we can also find the barbeque area and a small simple “garden hut” and an outdoor Jacuzzi.
This villa is one of our favourite houses. Its simple elegance will offer great comfort to the guests.
The surrounding area is one of Sardinia's most authentic corners with white sandy beautiful beaches, the transparent emerald green waters of the Archipelago of La Maddalena and La Maddalena itself. The wild small island north of Palau which can be reached by ferry boat travelling every half hour from Palau. A place that must be seen as it is partially totally unspoilt with beaches of great charm partially made of fine sand but partially boasting large flat stones sculptured by time, tides and wind. An unforgettable experience for nature lowers.
The nearby Palau offers some good restaurants, amongst which Sardinia's best, La Gritta (1 or 2 “Michelin” star!)
Porto Rafael has one of the Mediterranean's smartest small harbours, which has been for a long time a retreat for chic, famous boats owners and people that love the seclusion of this spectacular corner of Sardinia, a place where Sardinia presents itself in its fullest charm.
