The “Painter’s villa”. A villa to fall in love with and to be enraptured by the landscapes. For sale in Tempio Di Pausania.
Tempio di Pausania lies in the heart of Gallura, at the foot of Mount Limbara 50 km to Olbia’s International Airport. Gallura is emblematic of all the archaic proud beauty of this island lapped by turquoise transparent sea. The beautiful barren inland, so truly Sardinian, is covered with thick cork forests interspersed with beaches and coves nestling between the Mediterranean bush. The change of seasons does not blemish the charm of this eternally wild land. Long hot summer’s nights under a starry sky. Spring covering the deserted beaches and delicate pink flowers descending down to the sea and the mild autumn days, which see grapes ripening not far from the sound of waves lapping secluded coves. In winter one can spot snow on the sides of Mount Limbara. This is the season when the shepherds lead their flocks to the pens to spend the winter amongst olive and juniper trees.
But nature is not the only attraction, as small towns such as Tempio di Pausania embellish this region. The charming old town centre with houses and churches built with granite blocks resembles the Southern region of Corsica. Tempio di Pausania, which is the administrative “capital” of North Sardinia has fine restaurants located within ancient building. Out in the country there are “agriturismi” where traditional dishes are on the menu. One of the most famous is “Agnata” where Fabrizio De Andre used to live, who amongst others shared the love for this region. All of this, together with the proximity of one of the world's most beautiful seas create a pleasant atmosphere throughout the year.
Tucked away in a corner of Tempio Di Pausania facing Mont Limbara and the Mediterranean “macchia” yet walking distance to the historic town centre, the Painter’s Villa is an unusual house of recent built.
The peaceful bucolic location creates an almost “zen-like atmosphere”. Indoors and outdoors spaces liaise to create an atmosphere of stillness and recreation. The style is the one of a colonial country home, enhanced by white washed walls, white Venetian doors and shutters adding to its exotic, relaxed feel. Designed by a Sardinian painter to fit within this barren landscapes, its layout is designed to allow for the landscape to reach within. The spacious open plan lounge embraces the views opening onto the garden, where tall palm trees create a natural fencing with an exotic touch to it.
In a corner of the very spacious living room there is a cosy fire place whilst several windows allow for the sun to flood the room.
3 large bedrooms plus the open plan study where the painter used to work complete the internal space.
The villa’s bathrooms are spacious and laid with local tiles turquoise like the Sardinian sea, all fittings are modern and high quality. The villa is complete with central heating.
The master bedroom has a tall ceiling and leads onto a private outdoor portico with views over the countryside. The bedroom floors are laid with terracotta tiles whereby there is parquet flooring in all the other rooms. The kitchen is also spacious with an open fire place.
A house which is already a home. It will attract all of those who are looking for a place to rejoice and regenerate.
The old railway “il Trenino Verde” running through the most beautiful and secluded areas of the island used to pass below the villa once a week to take exited visitors to discover the most authentic Sardinia but it was interrupted some time ago and discontinued.
